New York, New York again ...

I'll be at New York Comic Con this year again, but this time instead of running around I'll be spending my time at the booth of Splash Page Art, selling my original art and drawing commissions.
If you're around, stop by and say hi! : )
Speaking of commissions, here are two fresh ones ...

And, by the way, finally - amazing original art from Edvin Biukovic's Grendel Tales will be available to buy at Splash Page Art booth! You better hurry. There's not much of them left and I know for sure there are lots of people that's been waiting for this for a long time.

Shon

As I said couple of times before, I suck at drawing dogs, but every now and then I manage to do a decent drawing. I was particularly fond of this one. Done in a haze around 4 a.m. without pencils, without effort. I couldn't find it in years, but now it finally emerged.
Shon, my old dog, had lots of cameo appearances in my comics, but it was very often inspiration for my friends, too. This one, drawn by Eddy, is probably my all time favourite!

And I've found another scrap of paper with more drawings. Not sure, but I think some of them are done by Eddy, some by Tico.

10 years without Eddy

Today is the 10th anniversary since Eddy left us. I've been remembering him on this blog more then once, so I've got nothing new to say. Just go and dig up once more his books you have, or if you don't, go on the net or to your local store and get everything you can and bask in the light of his talent and passion for comics.

Grand theft

Just to stay in the same mood; a reconstruction of the theft of some legal papers that were evidence for some bigger complot. Eddy Biukovic did the layouts which I've embellished and Bob did the lettering. Done for the weekly newspaper Nacional, twelve years ago. In the lower left corner it says that Eddy and me are working for American publisher, which at the time wasn't really true about me, but Bob was - lettering Eddy's "Human Target".

Remembering Eddy

Today, Eddy would celebrate his 40th birthday. He would have at least six Eisner Awards on his shelves, Alan Moore would beg him to work on his new book and his editor would try to reach him, unsuccessfully, because he would be missing his deadline. Today, he would be occupied calling friends to show up at his place, buying booze and snacks, putting together playlist of his favourite songs to last until the dawn and would clean up his den at least a little bit. He would celebrate his birthday and I'd celebrate along with him.
But life is a bitch.
So, there won't be any party today. Just memories.
And for those of you who weren't lucky enough to know him in person, here are few picks from his vast legacy ...

The Magnificent Seven

Two days ago, it was eight years since Edvin Biuković passed away. I wanted to write something about him but, frankly, I can't find the right words (especialy not in english) so I'll let the pictures speak ...

Prom night ...

Krazy in Brooklynn ...

Just ... Eddy.
Those of you not lucky enough to have known him, still have an oportunity to enjoy in his art ...

Endem

New issue of Endem, Croatia's longest lasting fanzine is out! This issue is hommage to Playboy and it features cover and centerfold art by late Eddy Biukovic. Many more comics and drawings from (mostly) Croatian artists can be found there, including mine. It can be bought in comic-stores in Zagreb or ordered from tihomir_tikulin@yahoo.com , along with previous issues. It's not expensive (though shipping could be costly, depending on where you live) and believe me, it's worth every penny, even if you don't speak Croatian!
